Empowering Quotes #43

Anger - happinessThe Empowering Quote for today comes from the Dalai Lama when asked if he had thoughts like anger, judgment, sadness, greed, lust, and confusion.

I have all those thoughts. I am just a normal human being. The only difference is, I have learned not to pay attention to those thoughts.

It doesn’t take a genius to deduce that every minute spent in judgement, sadness, greed, lust and confusion will also result in the loss of sixty seconds of happiness. No doubt there are other states of mind that have a similar effect.

So how does one learn NOT to pay attention to that type of thought? I would hazard a guess that the Dalia Lama spends a considerable amount of time in meditation and that is a wonderful tool to assist with the control of thoughts.

Becoming aware of our thoughts is the objective so that we can stop one thought and choose something more appropriate. If you find it difficult to control your thoughts, start small and gradually build on your ability to change them.

Another tool which would help considerably is Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT)/Tapping. There is a free event taking place right now if you’re open to trying this. Register for the 7th Annual Tapping World Summit. Every day, from 8:00 pm one day until 8:00 pm the following day, there are two new presentations that you can participate in. There’s bound to be something for everyone, so try it!
